Why am I on Substack, and why should you subscribe?

Like always, I’m writing to validate, encourage, and inspire — one story, one word at a time. Sharing stories is powerful. There’s nothing quite like it. My hope is that YOU feel seen, heard, and less alone. I want to start conversations that make a difference. Nancy’s Point is intended to be a place for you, not just an author newsletter platform for me.

I’ve always loved writing, but I didn’t call myself a writer until I started blogging after my breast cancer diagnosis in 2010. In addition to blogging about all that and more, I’ve authored three books and written numerous articles for various publications.

A year or so ago, I decided it was time for a change. Hence, my decision to move to Substack. I didn’t make the decision to move without considerable thought, and yes, procrastination. Over-thinking is a strong suit of mine. It’s not easy to start fresh and begin learning the ins and outs of a new site and all that comes with this kind of change.

But now that I’ve made the change, I feel good about it! I hope you will too.

I can’t wait to see where this takes us.

What’s in it for YOU?

My favorite part of writing is making and keeping deep connections with readers. A primary goal of mine has always been to build a caring, supportive community of readers who actively engage. Regarding stuff to read, there are a lot of choices out there, and I’m honored you’ve chosen this space to investigate and consider becoming part of. I promise you are, and always will be, valued and appreciated.

Subscribing gets you full access to all my articles about cancer and survivorship, grief and loss, pets and pet loss, pink ribbon shenanigans, getting older (okay, old), life as a baby-boomer introvert, and a whole lot more - dare I say it - maybe even politics! Plus, we can commiserate, and who doesn’t love doing that?

By subscribing, you’ll never miss an article. I don’t have to worry about chasing algorithms or how many followers I do or do not have on social media platforms and elsewhere. Nor do I need to worry about (or pay for) a separate newsletter to send out.

There are a lot of things to learn about and mull over regarding what I will be offering here. I don’t even yet know what all the options are, but there’s no need to figure it all out right away. Feeling rushed or pressured doesn’t suit me, nor does it likely suit you. We can take our time. Together, we’ll figure out what we want and what works best. We can evolve, grow, and change in this space, too.

Thank you so much for reading my About page. I hope you’ll decide to become a subscriber and maybe even tell your friends to visit this space.

Your thoughts, viewpoints, and suggestions are always welcome. I look forward to connecting and learning about things that matter to you, too.
